Senior PHP/Node Engineer

Patch.com is an American local news and information platform, primarily owned by Hale Global. As of January 2022, Patch’s more than 100 journalists operated some 1,259 hyperlocal news websites, which also have an information component, in 50 U.S. states and Washington, D.C. Patch is operated by Patch Media Corporation.

Required technical experience

• You have significant experience with Drupal 7 (module development experience, understanding of hook system, updated, drush)
• You have an understanding of Node.js application development.
• You have experience building and scaling RESTful web services.
• You understand where and how to leverage application and edge caching.
• You have experience with MySQL – read/write/debug/optimize complex SQL statements
• You have experience with containers, preferably Docker.
• You write well designed, testable, and efficient code.
• You are a team player who values a true collaborative environment and have passion and curiosity for creating and building things.
• Prior experience working in a distributed remote team.

Nice to have technical experience

• Experience with serverless paradigms.
• Experience with front-end JavaScript frameworks (e.g. React, Vue.js, Angular).
• Experience working within a continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) environment
• Experience with Infrastructure as code (Terraform)
• Experience working with microservices architecture.
• Experience with edge caching architectures.
• Experience with application development in container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes.
• Experience with building distributed applications on AWS cloud infrastructure at scale
