What you will do
- Become the first SDET in the team and define how we approach testing;
- Drive the testing infrastructure and ensure high-quality standards across our product;
- Mentor and support developers to take ownership of their own testing;
- Collaborate closely with engineers to co-own and write automated tests (unit, integration, end-to-end, performance);
- Promote a “shift-left” QA mindset, embedding testing throughout the development process rather than leaving it as a final stage;
- Continuously improve our testing practices, tools, and processes to increase efficiency and reliability.
Must haves
- Strong experience of at least 4 years as a Python engineer (building production systems);
- Proven track record designing and implementing automated testing frameworks;
- Hands-on experience with unit, integration, end-to-end, and performance/load testing;
- Product-focused mindset with curiosity about the bigger picture;
- Proactive, takes ownership, and responsible for outcomes;
- Bias for action: able to quickly test, iterate, and make decisions without getting stuck;
- Scrappy mindset: focus on delivering business value over unnecessary perfection;
- Ability to thrive in a fully remote, collaborative environment with honesty and radical candor;
- Full overlap with Eastern European Time or at least 6+ hours;
- Upper-Intermediate English level.
Nice to haves
- Experience with Python web frameworks (Django, FastAPI);
- Frontend experience (testing approaches and frameworks such as Vue.js or React);
- Early-stage startup experience;
- Experience building with LLMs or agentic AI systems;
- Leadership experience.
