Please Note: This is a proactive pipeline hiring initiative for the positions we expect soon. While the start date isn't officially confirmed, passing the Tech Interview stages now ensures you get priority visibility with our key clients and allows us to move at lightning speed the moment these roles go live.

We're looking for an experienced Shopify professional to build and lead our e-commerce practice. This role combines technical leadership, client consultation, and strategic growth. You'll guide teams through implementations, mentor developers, partner with sales on pre-sales calls, and help clients turn Shopify into a growth engine, all within a remote-first environment.

What you will do

  • Architect and oversee Shopify stores, applications, and custom integrations end-to-end;
  • Drive scalable and secure solutions, establish coding standards, and create proofs of concept;
  • Lead small-scale or prototype engagements, establish best practices, scope work, and mentor developers during initial project phases;
  • Serve as the primary contact for a portfolio of clients, understand business goals, and translate them into prioritized technical roadmaps;
  • Provide strategic guidance on conversion optimization, UX/UI, SEO, and performance;
  • Participate in discovery calls with sales teams, answer technical questions, scope projects, and identify upsell opportunities;
  • Collaborate with designers, product managers, and marketers to align technical solutions with business goals;
  • Ensure designs, themes, and applications meet performance, SEO, and CRO best practices;
  • Stay current with Shopify updates, headless frameworks, and third-party integrations;
  • Champion engineering excellence and contribute to the broader e-commerce roadmap.

Must haves

  • 5+ years of experience in e-commerce;
  • Deep expertise in Shopify Plus, Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and APIs;
  • Proven track record delivering large-scale solutions and measurable conversion improvements;
  • Experience leading development teams, conducting code reviews, and mentoring developers;
  • Ability to translate business goals into technical roadmaps and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders;
  • Experience supporting sales conversations, scoping projects, and identifying growth opportunities;
  • Strong communication, organization, and remote collaboration skills;
  • High proficiency in English;
  • Availability to support consulting, team leadership, and part-time project involvement based on client needs.

Nice to haves

  • Experience with headless commerce frameworks such as Hydrogen or Next.js, and GraphQL;
  • Background in agency or consulting environments and familiarity with CRO tools;
  • Shopify certifications or community involvement;
  • Relevant Shopify certifications or Shopify Academy Verified Skills;
  • Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese.

FAQ

Have any questions?

What is the work format and schedule?

We are a remote-first company, so all our positions are remote. Schedules are flexible, but the main requirement is to have an overlap with your client’s schedule to ensure smooth collaboration. Specific details depend on the project and are discussed during the interview process.

What level of English is required?

We look for Upper-Intermediate (B2) proficiency or higher. Since you will be collaborating with international teams and global clients (including Fortune 500 companies), English is a part of your daily work.

Does AgileEngine provide work equipment?

It depends on your location. We provide equipment in Ukraine, Poland, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, Guatemala, Portugal, Spain, and India. In the USA, equipment is usually provided by the client; otherwise, you will be expected to use your own setup.

What opportunities for professional growth do you offer?

We support continuous growth through personalized development paths tailored to each expert. Also, you can expect:

  • An annual learning and development budget
  • Internal workshops, tech talks, and mentorship programs
  • Opportunities to switch projects or grow into new roles over time

What does a typical team look like, and what tools do you use?

Teams vary by project, but you’ll usually work with a mix of experts across different fields, along with a delivery or project manager who supports collaboration and onboarding.

For day-to-day work, teams commonly use tools like Jira and Google Workspace, along with communication platforms such as Google Chat. Depending on the client, you may also work with Slack, Confluence, Notion, or similar tools.
