About the role

We are looking for a Senior Engineering Productivity Engineer to drive automation, visibility, and process improvements across software development and delivery workflows for a regulated medical device organization. You will build and maintain CI/CD automation using GitLab, develop engineering quality dashboards and DORA metrics reporting, create integrations between GitLab, Jira, Kubernetes, and security scanning platforms, and build governed self-service release tooling that enables compliant deployment across development, SQA, and cybersecurity teams. The role requires 4+ years of DevOps and automation engineering experience with exposure to FDA-regulated or similar regulated development environments as a strong plus.

What you will do

  • Design, develop, and maintain automation and software tools that improve developer productivity, engineering efficiency, and operational visibility.
  • Automate repetitive engineering workflows and modernize CI/CD, deployment, security, tooling, and observability processes in partnership with Platform Engineering.
  • Build and maintain integrations across GitLab, Jira, Kubernetes, AWS, security scanning platforms, and enterprise tooling.
  • Develop governed self-service tools and pipelines that enable application teams to safely execute approved software, firmware, and configuration updates with minimal operational dependency.
  • Design and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines, reusable templates, automated quality gates, and role-based deployment approvals covering testing, code coverage, static analysis, security scanning, SBOM generation, dependency validation, and compliance evidence.
  • Build release-readiness, deployment, audit, and traceability automation to support controlled and compliant software releases.
  • Develop dashboards and automated reporting for engineering effectiveness, quality, security, release readiness, and operational performance using data from GitLab, Jira, Kubernetes, AWS, New Relic, and internal systems.
  • Implement DORA and engineering effectiveness metrics, including deployment frequency, lead time for changes, change failure rate, and recovery metrics, and generate actionable insights into engineering bottlenecks.
  • Monitor and report on operational health, including MTTR, MTBF, availability, release success, deployment duration, incident trends, Kubernetes efficiency, resource utilization, capacity, and cost optimization opportunities.
  • Design stakeholder-driven deployment and release workflows that ensure appropriate approvals, governance, compliance, and traceability.
  • Create executive, program, and engineering dashboards that provide visibility into program status, development velocity, quality, security posture, release readiness, and operational health.
  • Partner with Quality, Security, Development, Release Engineering, and Platform Engineering teams to ensure software delivery processes meet compliance, security, quality, and traceability requirements.

Must haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4+ years of software development, DevOps, automation engineering, or software tools experience.
  • Experience developing applications using one or more of: Python, Go, C#, Java.
  • Experience building REST API integrations.
  • Experience with Git-based development workflows.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD concepts.
  • Experience with GitLab or similar DevOps platforms.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with generating efficient dashboards in observability platforms (New Relic, DataDog, etc.).
  • Upper-intermediate English level.

  • Experience with medical device, healthcare, FDA-regulated, ISO 13485, IEC 62304, HIPAA, NIST 800-171, or similar regulated development environments.
  • Experience implementing DORA metrics and engineering effectiveness reporting.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred).

FAQ

Have any questions?

What is the work format and schedule?

We are a remote-first company, so all our positions are remote. Schedules are flexible, but the main requirement is to have an overlap with your client’s schedule to ensure smooth collaboration. Specific details depend on the project and are discussed during the interview process.

What level of English is required?

We look for Upper-Intermediate (B2) proficiency or higher. Since you will be collaborating with international teams and global clients (including Fortune 500 companies), English is a part of your daily work.

Does AgileEngine provide work equipment?

It depends on your location. We provide equipment in Ukraine, Poland, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, Guatemala, Portugal, Spain, and India. In the USA, equipment is usually provided by the client; otherwise, you will be expected to use your own setup.

What opportunities for professional growth do you offer?

We support continuous growth through personalized development paths tailored to each expert. Also, you can expect:

  • An annual learning and development budget
  • Internal workshops, tech talks, and mentorship programs
  • Opportunities to switch projects or grow into new roles over time

What does a typical team look like, and what tools do you use?

Teams vary by project, but you’ll usually work with a mix of experts across different fields, along with a delivery or project manager who supports collaboration and onboarding.

For day-to-day work, teams commonly use tools like Jira and Google Workspace, along with communication platforms such as Google Chat. Depending on the client, you may also work with Slack, Confluence, Notion, or similar tools.
