About the role

We are looking for a Senior Data Platform Engineer to build secure, scalable data platform capabilities and automate data governance controls.

The mandatory requirements are 5+ years of data engineering experience, SQL, experience with at least one of the following: Databricks, Unity Catalog, data lakes, or Apache Spark, and an upper-intermediate English level.

Must haves

  • Bachelor's in CS/Data Engineering/Software Engineering/related STEM (or Bachelor's + Master's/higher in STEM)
  • 5+ years software/data engineering experience (or equivalent demonstrated skill)
  • 5+ years with Python, SQL, distributed processing, data modeling, modern data engineering frameworks
  • Strong experience with cloud data platforms, data catalogs, metadata, lineage, data quality, access controls
  • Databricks, Unity Catalog, Data Lake, Apache Spark, or comparable
  • CI/CD, automated testing, environment separation, production deployment
  • Experience building secure APIs, MCP servers, or tools for enterprise/AI-enabled apps
  • Enterprise identity, RBAC, service accounts, secrets, least-privilege security
  • Full lifecycle experience: architecture → development → deployment → production support
  • Upper-intermediate English level.

Nice to haves

  • GitLab CI/CD or comparable
  • Policy-as-code, infrastructure-as-code, configuration-driven platforms
  • Experience building data marketplaces, governance platforms, or internal developer platforms
  • Familiarity with privacy/security/regulatory/AI governance controls
  • Experience in regulated or risk-sensitive environments

What you will do

  • Architect secure, scalable data platform and governance automation capabilities
  • Build automated controls for metadata, ownership, lineage, data quality, access, and policy enforcement
  • Develop secure APIs, MCP tools, and integrations for enterprise/AI-enabled applications
  • Design reusable, configuration-driven patterns for governed data/platform services
  • Implement identity, authz, least-privilege access, auditability, and credential management
  • Build automated validation, testing, deployment, and monitoring across environments
  • Partner with domain experts, PMs, governance teams, and engineers on technical controls
  • Establish observability for platform health, data quality, policy results, and failures
  • Own production-quality code, tests, documentation, and operational guidance
  • Mentor other engineers; guide technical direction across teams

Have any questions?

What is the work format and schedule?

We are a remote-first company, so all our positions are remote. Schedules are flexible, but the main requirement is to have an overlap with your client’s schedule to ensure smooth collaboration. Specific details depend on the project and are discussed during the interview process.

What level of English is required?

We look for Upper-Intermediate (B2) proficiency or higher. Since you will be collaborating with international teams and global clients (including Fortune 500 companies), English is a part of your daily work.

Does AgileEngine provide work equipment?

It depends on your location. We provide equipment in Ukraine, Poland, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, Guatemala, Portugal, Spain, and India. In the USA, equipment is usually provided by the client; otherwise, you will be expected to use your own setup.
